Description
Hi, here is another "angel portrait", but this is one of my favorites, she asked me to draw her like an angel, and she has this angelical face, perfect for the portrait!6B Pencil.
Ah, some people here critique about the use of photos to draw the portraits, as I work a lot with portraits, most people really don't have time to stay and pose in my front while I draw, so they give me a photo and I do my job, if you want to make a critique, please, critique the way that I worked with the pencil, the details, etc.. and not because the original was a photo and not the person posing in my front...
Thanks..

I agree...there's absolutely nothing wrong with using photographs at all. It's called photorealism...and it shows a lot of talent if you can reproduce a photo nearly exact!

However, I think you have done the woman well besides wha emarts said.

I feel your pain. I have never seen a group of "artists" that harp on this issue than on this site.
I have yet to meet a professional artist who doesn't use some type of photo reference, or an art instructor who doesn't urge it (albeit everyone knows studies from life are most educational and essential to artistic development) and it always amazes me some of the comments from some who feel using photo reference somehow diminishes whether it's good or not - or "fair" (sigh)
"Making it up" never produces the same quality if realism is desired.
Anyway, your drawing is great. A few words of critique:
You can tell which parts you "made up" and which had photo reference. I like the treatment of the feathers of the wings, but the wings over-all need a little more involvement as previosly suggested.
The clothing looks a bit contrived and made up and needs a little work to bring those areas up to the same finish as the face, but not so much that it competes for attention with the face.
Check out this site by an artist who knows how to do fabric and folds. He uses exstensive photo reference - go figure...

The hand looks a bit flat, the spacing between the teeth are too defined (IMO) as are the creases in the lips.
But, a great piece nonetheless.
